Privacy
Short version: the practice works without an account, we show no ads, we run no tracking across other sites, and we never sell data. Syntene is one brand with one product so far, Syntene Learn, and this page covers both. The full detail for the app lives in the Syntene Learn privacy policy.
This website (syntene.com)
This page is a static site. It has no forms, no accounts, no cookies and no analytics script, and it does not collect anything about you. Our host, Cloudflare, may keep basic request logs (IP address, time, page) for security and abuse prevention, as any web host does.
Syntene Learn, the SAT Math app
The practice app lives at learn.syntene.com. Here is everything it stores:
- An anonymous device id. On your first visit it creates a random id in your browser and sends it with your practice, so your progress and history stay yours. It is not your name, email or phone number.
- Your practice records. Questions you answered, whether you got them right, timing, and your mastery by topic. This powers your progress view and the step-by-step feedback.
- Local settings. Things like dark mode, text size and motion preferences stay in your browser.
- A display name, only if you set one. The app stores it with your account. If you never set one, nothing is stored.
- Feedback you send. Kept so we can act on it. The form does not ask for an email address and we do not store one.
- Google sign-in, only if you choose it. If you sign in, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email, profile picture) and link it to a Syntene account so your progress follows you to another device. If you never sign in, none of this is collected.
- Chiron, the AI tutor. Your message is sent to an AI service to write the reply and is not stored. We keep the reply itself so the same question is instant next time, plus a short usage record (which question, when, and a hashed network identifier) so the free limit and abuse limits work.
- A hashed network address for abuse limits. It is one-way, and the raw address is not stored in our database.
- One login cookie when signed in. sl_session, HttpOnly and Secure, used only to keep you logged in for 30 days. A second short-lived cookie (sl_oauth, 10 minutes) exists only during a Google login. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
What we do not do
- No selling data, no data brokers, no sharing with advertisers.
- No ads and no third-party trackers that follow you across sites.
- No collecting answers to sell as study material. Your mistakes are yours.
- No email required, no phone number, no payment details for the free practice.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Without an account: clear this site's data in your browser settings and your device id and progress are gone.
- With a Google account: open the app, tap your profile picture, then Delete account. That removes your account and the records linked to you. You can also ask us to delete your account and all linked practice records by emailing hello@syntene.com from the same address.
- Questions or corrections: write to hello@syntene.com. A human answers.
Where data lives
Practice data is stored in a database hosted on Cloudflare's network and served over HTTPS. We use it to run the product: your progress, scoring, the free tutor limit, and abuse prevention. We do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep things
- In your browser: the device id and your settings stay until you clear your browser's site data. Clearing it may reset the id and hide old progress.
- On our servers: practice records and feedback are kept until you delete them. There is no automatic expiry, and we do not quietly discard or sell them.
- Login cookies: the session cookie lasts 30 days or ends the moment you log out; the login-security cookie lasts 10 minutes.
- Abuse counters: short-lived, cleared automatically after about three days.
Children
The tools are built for high-school study and are not directed at children under 13. You must be at least 13 to create an account or sign in with Google. If you are under 13, please use Syntene with a parent or guardian and stay anonymous.
Changes to this policy
If what we store changes, this page changes first. The date below always reflects the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
